Creating a new product isn’t as straightforward a process as many people believe. While the basis of inspiration behind a new product will drive forward its production from idea to an on-the-shelf item, it must be developed through 4-8 stages of product development.

In this phase, the product’s design is finalized through various prototypes and design concepts to ensure the manufacturing process will deliver a product to meet its design functions and features.

4) Testing:

One of the most important aspects of developing a new product is determining its durability and risk of failure. Through various tests and examinations, they assess a product according to its durability, strength, safety, and user-friendliness.

5) Validation:

The final design of the product is evaluated against the customer needs. Here the product is usually put to test by a market research group to understand how the product will be used and whether the features of the product’s design work according to the concept.

6) Manufacturing:

Once a product passes its validation stage, it is ready for manufacturing. The business will need to prepare their production and manufacturing equipment, and align the product’s manufacturing according to their systems. The marketing of the new product can begin with plans and campaigns devised, developed and then launched with the product’s availability.

7) Updating:

As the product reaches its market, it will only be a matter of time until competitors will begin updating their products. They will force you to update your product too, with enhancements to your manufacturing processes and other areas to maximize profits.
